I finally bit the bullet and decided to go and see the doctor about my erectile dysfunction. No matter how much stimulation I received from my wonderful girlfriend, I just could not maintain an erection adequate for sex. I had to make sure we avoided sexual intercourse because I just couldn’t manage it at all. I felt ashamed and embarrassed.
A little information on PIED: YOUR PENIS IS NOT BROKEN. If you can achieve a strong erection through watching pornography or from waking up on a morning, the actual mechanics to create an erection are working. It’s your brain that’s the problem, not your penis. Your brain isn’t sexually excited enough and therefore doesn’t allow the penis to become engorged with enough blood for a solid erection. I see a lot of confusion about this here and elsewhere – most ED is psychological and PIED is no different. Our brains are so fried by watching extreme pornography so regularly that normal, intimate sex with a loved one just doesn’t do it any more.
This is where help comes in. I seen my doctor, told him my symptoms and he prescribed me the smallest possible dose of Viagra. It works by loosening the blood vessels around your penis, making it easier for blood to flow in to. In other words, less brain effort is needed to pump up your penis. I was sceptical at first – like many here, I was convinced that my penis had been destroyed through years of abuse. I took the pill and waited an hour. I don’t want to sound crude, but I could have balanced off of it. I haven’t had an erection like that in YEARS. And it lasted, and lasted, and lasted. Again, I don’t want to sound crude or brag, but it also seemed to improve my longevity by ten-fold. I had the most amazing night with my wonderful lady despite suffering heavily from PIED.
I didn’t write this just to gloat or tell a nice story. I want people to know that PIED can indeed be conquered. Please be aware that I am not claiming that a small dose of Viagra will solve your problems, but it may help at least some of you. It is embarrassing to say to your doctor that you have erectile dysfunction but they are professionals. They’ve heard it before and will hear it again, they won’t laugh at you or find it funny and they’ll have probably forgotten about you by the time you leave the surgery. Also, be aware that ED can be a symptom of a more hideous underlying disorder, such as heart disease or low blood pressure, so it’s even more important to get it checked out.
It’s not a long term solution. Kicking pornography and recovering normal sexuality is the long term solution.
There’s literally no reason to not get checked out. A quick, slightly embarrassing trip to your doctors could make you feel a whole lot better about yourself.
I am 23 years old, been watching porn since I was about 10 or 11. At least a decade of regular pornography use, and I have seen my tastes spiral more and more into the extreme over the years. What started out as watching women take their tops off turned into mass orgies and gangbangs. I’m ashamed and disgusted.
