I’ve been involved with this subreddit for almost a year and a half. Currently I am on a 185 day streak. Excluding one MO 185 days ago, a 298 day streak. I am a completely different person. Confidence, healthy glowing skin, sharp mind, charisma and work ethic are unbelievable. My grades (currently at university) have improved drastically.
My hobbies have expanded drastically from computer gaming to a ton of other stuff. I’d like to think that I am now an “interesting person.” It all seems quite permanent. Daily progress is a struggle, but in retrospect I have made incredible progress. The best part is that I enjoy the struggle: my life would feel meaningless without it.
A year and a half ago, I struggled with insomnia. I no longer have insomnia. I have grown to question everything, to never be complacent, to choose the most challenging path at every possible opportunity. I am stronger, braver, and more experienced for it.
I have become a lot more sociable. A year and a half ago, I essentially lived life alone. I am still introverted, but now by choice, and to a lesser extent. I have short and long term plans, and need time alone for thought and study. But I also spend a lot more time socializing. I enjoy talking to and learning about people. The temporary connection is very inspiring. I need to be reminded of my purpose every once in a while.
Tips:
- Don’t focus on the end result. Don’t even think of it. Be completely absorbed by the journey. Life is miserable unless you exist for the process itself.
- Organize your thoughts. Keep a diary. Make self-improvement a science. Otherwise you will feel lost, you will repeat the same mistakes a dozen times, you will lose inspiration and lose touch with your purpose.
- Reflect often. Work out daily. Challenge yourself at every opportunity to the greatest degree possible.
Recently I met an amazing woman and went on my first date. I am confident there will be more.
