When erectile dysfunction and the crash hit me in the second half of 2012, I had no idea what was happening. As many of you know, your body, your way of relating to the rest of the world, your identity all come under huge doubts. This site has changed my life. I hope this post can add, even in some tiny way, to the weight of evidence of the other info on this site.
If you found this site through your own problems then give up porn now. It will take a long time, it will be a struggle. But that’s what you have to do to get better.
I know this post is quite short compared to other recovery stories but I feel some other stories have already covered different aspects of things really well and I just wanted to add another positive story to help motivate people. If, however, anyone has any questions then just ask:)
Do you have a background story?
This thread is my first post on this site. As for a background story… I had been checking out porn since about the age of 15. And as the Internet developed so did my addiction. I found this site after my libido disappeared and I was searching all over for what could be wrong. Didn’t know if it was a disease or what.
Then I started checking out the info on this site and the videos. It made sense to me that the problem could be porn addiction. At that time I had completely lost my libido: couldn’t get wood or even muster a sexual thought. An interesting experience in a way but scary as fuck when you don’t know exactly why you are experiencing it and if you’ll return to normal. At that stage I didn’t do any of the testing business, I just figured I wanted to go for the full cure as soon as possible so stopped both jackin it and watching porn.
I would say it took between 2 and 3 months. The first month saw little change. Still no libido. Then it started coming back maybe month 2. About another month later I would say I had completely recovered and I was having sex like I always had. It’s so important to completely get away from all porn. You have to wipe the porn and fantasies of porn from your mind. That is what will take time. Get yourself a hobby
As for the positive changes…. well as much as the the reasons for porn addiction causing impotence made sense to me, I always guessed the positive effects I read about were the result of using time in a better way and trying to live a more wholesome way rather than just ‘not watching porn’. Porn is a trick. A deceptively effective and alluring one. Real life just isn’t like it is in porn and if you soak your mind in too much of that shit, that’s what your mind will crave rather than the joys of reality. Porn fucks your reward system. And there are loads of joys to reality.
Take your pick. Meeting girls sports, reading, talking to old friends, meeting new ones,…… . Or you can go back to hiding away watching pixel shapes go in and out, in and out, in and out and people faking moaning noises for money. Up to you.
