It’s been a while since I’ve been to this subreddit now. It’s kinda crazy to think that I finally did it. I can’t tell you guys how many times I relapsed in the ~2 years I was attempting to complete NoFap, they call it the ultimate challenge for a reason. I actually unsubbed this subreddit because it became a bit much to always hearing about it, that just made it more difficult for me, not to mention all of the mental masturbation about the benefits that you receive.
A little back story on me, I was just your average guy who thought porn was not a big deal. I would maybe use it some 3-4 times a week, it really didn’t seem like a big deal at the time. I mean it was commonplace that all guys use porn. However, one day I found NoFap and after hearing the accounts of people who had completed it it, I had to try it.
I relapsed many times, but in the end I conquered the challenge. I wouldn’t allow it to best me. I learned a lot about myself and human sexuality in my endeavors.
So deathlux? Do you get superpowers? – Not quite. The benefits that you get through NoFap are numerous and amazing, but the term superpowers is an exaggeration. The most noticeable thing to me was a sense of clarity, it was truly profound. Maybe some 3 weeks in I would get it, it was as though this fog was removed, you have to experience it to believe it. The other most significant “super power” in my opinion, was the incentive to actually get shit done. I remember one of the first times I was going for a streak and I found myself reading, playing guitar and piano again, it was something else.
Most importantly:
- Keep on going, I relapsed many times but never allowed myself to fail.
- Use the extra time you now have to improve yourself and become the person that you wish to be.
- Never use porn again, it is an affliction.
A last little thing that I would like to add is about porn itself. Having completed the challenge, it seems strange to me that society, at least young men, bear a rather neutral ground on porn. It is almost unbelievable the damage that it does to you, primarily that upon your mental state. I think it is best stated in this quote I once heard: “It’s not that porn is bad, but it’s bad for you.”
Remember Winston Churchill’s wise words, if you’re going through hell, keep on going.
Best wishes, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
