I started Nofap one year ago with a group of friends. We agreed that we would all do go one year without fapping. We’ve come to the year mark and I’m going to briefly mention some highlights:
1) Doing it as a group practice is very helpful. I had tried No Fap by myself before and the same applied to the two other friends I did this with. However, once it became a collective responsibility we were all able to end this poor habit. It was also great for us to discuss the “journey”
2) Started to really appreciate real life women more – I know this has been said before but until you stop fap you don’t realize how it can really change your perspective on real life women. I had a girlfriend at the time and it was clear how much more I could appreciate her physically after Nofap. We both benefited. it was not instant but within 8 weeks or so it was clear that there was a difference.
3) Greater self-control – I’m not going to claim that Nofap caused this but before nofap I was struggling to stay faithful to my girl. I would welcome flirts from other girls and though I didn’t “cross the line” with anyone I definitely came close. Since Nofap and as a result of appreciating what I had already, the temptation to seek other women has disappeared. I did eventually end that relationship for completely unrelated reasons but now I’m enjoying being single in a way that I had never done before. Rather than feeling desperate for physical and intimate closeness. I think i have a far more mature view on love and sex and am more focused on being prepared for the next meaningful relationship that will come. Until then I’m flying solo and enjoying it.
4) A different appreciation for women – The last point I’ll discuss. As a part of my decision to start No fap and stop watching porn I decided I’d try and deliberately focus on the positive aspects of women. Sex is a great thing and I appreciate the sexual aspect of women but there is far more as well. One of the issues with most porn is that they depict women as mindless bimbos that only exist to fulfill our male sexual urges with their bodies. It’s toxic and insidious on how it can affect your psyche. Since stopping I’ve not only been able to have more platonic relationships with women but also I’ve taken the time to appreciate all the great aspect of women which is inclusive but NOT limited to their sensual components.
Hope you appreciated this post. I never post on this forum but I’ve read many many posts and have benefited from it. It’s great to read how many have overcome this poor practice and seen improvements. Thank you guys!!!
