37 years old, Been using forever, started with Magazines, VHS and on and on after the internet. I just noticed the longer I stayed away from it, the better, more confident I felt. It hasn’t been an easy trip but easier than my last go round. 30 days is my longest streak in a long long time maybe ever. Things I’ve realized over the last 30 days ….
So if I had something important coming up , I’d abstain for a few days . I’ve been at it for a couple years now , but only seriously for 3-4 months .
-Porn has caused so many problems in my life . You don’t notice these things when you are using and they seem perfectly normal to you
– I’ve started to long for emotional connection when being intimate with my wife , instead of being mainly concerned with that physical release . This makes sex 100x better.
– I can lift more and heavier than ever and I’ve gained 5 pounds of muscle
– Meditation is helpful , not only to combat urges but to deal with every day upsets or frustrations .
– When you take away one of your coping mechanisms(PMO) You better replace it with something positive . I’ve started playing more guitar , reading more
– Cold showers in the morning kick ass
– Don’t focus on what you’re giving up , focus on all the things you will gain from the new person you are becoming . Also focus on all the things you will miss out on if you continue with PMO.
– Your mind will try to fuck with you , try to convince you that PMO is who you are and you might as well give in . “The Past does not equal the future”
– Visit this sub when you need to at first , but don’t make it a habit . Doing so will always keep PMO in the back of your mind . The easiest days are those when you don’t focus on it at all .
– Getting an accountability partner helps a great deal
– having a written plan for overcoming triggers is helpful .
