This is a self-help site, which is very helpful in refocusing the mind away from thoughts that are not based on facts. Here’s what one guy said about this approach with regard to HOCD thoughts another guy was unhappy about:

 The thing about thoughts is that they just happen. They aren’t who you really are. Thoughts aren’t you. They just appear like they are. When you realize this truly, you at some point become free because you can think anything you want it and it doesn’t make any difference.

It’s all about “not to believe what I think,” and you can practice this. That is what “the work” has helped me with — to realize that thoughts are normally almost always false, about everything, not just about being HOCD, but about everything.

I think you have these thoughts for a reason, but the reason is so you can learn how to NOT believe your thoughts. And that will help you move to a higher state of self realization and self confidence than you ever dreamed possible. Without this period in your life you wouldn’t grow in this way, but I think you will.
