Here’s a tip from a recovering user:
You can set it up to 24 hours and no matter what you do, you can never go on a site you blocked, even if you restart your computer or delete the app. Also it’s free.
- My phone has been a thorn in my side for a little while now with having accessibility to porn on it. I upgraded my iphone a few weeks ago, but I conveniently haven’t messed around with the settings so I could have access.
Well, I finally took off the safari and replaced it with iWonder Pro. It’s a search engine that blocks sites. I think you can adjust the settings on your home computer, but the settings seem to block all of the porn pretty good without interfering too much with anything else.
What I did to disable safari – since it doesn’t seem like you can remove safari completely from your phone –
Go to Settings
– General
– Restrictions
– put in a 4 digit password that you wont remember (you have to put it in twice, so try not to remember it!)
– It has options to turn off certain programs like Youtube and Safari
– Turn off the ones that are giving you problems
– I think you press something like enable
Since you don’t have the password any longer, the only way to get into these features if you reformat your phone. That’s a pretty big obstacle to get to porn, so maybe Ill be good for a minute.
Another tip:
Try Safe Eyes for iPhone and iPad. You can block WiFi connections in your home with OpenDNS but it cannot stop 3G connections due to how the DNS is handled via 3G
Android:
iPad
You can download an alternate web browser App for the iPad but it will only block websites in that particular app. You’d still be able to go to your normal browser.
It’s tricky with the iPad. You have to access your wireless Router settings and block from there. That will block sites to all the computers in your house. But there’s a problem with that as well. You have to give the password to someone so that you don’t un-block the sites. Secondly, you can’t forget the password in case your router has issues you won’t be able to fix anything. Thirdly, not every porn site in the world will be blocked.
Use OpenDNS and set it to block adult sites. Change the Settings in your router and it will block for all computers. Problem with that as well, is that it’s easy turn it off and view porn.
This is all from personal experience. The one thing that truly worked to get free from porn, is to try to discipline yourself. Best porn blocker is you.
