Women need NoFap

Every time I become intimate with a girl, I like to bring up the topic of PMO. I talk about my experiences, how it affected myself and my sex life, and how I’ve made changes and have hardly watched any in over a year. I also ask a ton of questions about what she’s into and if she PMO’s. What I’ve heard truly makes me feel sad and sick to my stomach. Note that I do not judge, as I’ve watched enough porn for five lifetimes over.

What makes me feel horrible is that many women out there, just like men, just like myself a year ago, have no idea how much PMO is affecting their sex lives. Many are addicted and they don’t even know it. And all of the symptoms are present: the desensitizing effects of using sex toys, the gradual escalation into more extreme types of porn, the boredom of actual sex in comparison to porn (which leads to fantasizing about porn during sex to stimulate excitement), and finally a preference to porn and masturbation than actual sex because it feels better.

The woman I’m currently dating told me that no guy in her life has ever made her feel like porn and her vibrator. When I mentioned that that seemed like an issue, and that she’s probably desensitized herself to the real thing, she was a bit shocked. She just never knew. When we talked about porn preferences, she’s watched all the old stuff I used to watch. But she prefers the more extreme stuff over the normal as the normal is too boring and there would be no point. When I pointed out the fact that the normal stuff was probably good enough for her back when she first started watching, she was again shocked. Lastly, I asked her how she likes my downstairs region, she replied clean shaven, because it makes me look like a porn star. It made me realize that she may be fantasizing about porn than actual sex and equating sex to what she sees in porn, and that’s what made me feel the worst. And it’s not her fault, it’s nobody’s fault. Especially for those of us under the age of 25, we grew up watching it. It was considered normal. We all talked about it at school, had access to an unlimited amount for free, and were told that it was healthy. How would we know any better?

It’s just sad to see where we are as a society. The girl in my story above isn’t a sex fiend, she is a typical college-attending, normal girl. She is truly an awesome person. But like her, many of her friends, many of the girls at my college, many of the average women around the world, just like the average men out there, truly have no idea how much PMO is affecting them. I feel like the notion of NoFap is more directed at men, but I’m hoping we can change that and get more women on board. It is more detrimental than they might believe.
